AW '17 men's fashion trends

That time of year again is approaching – the spring/summer sales are set to launch, and the new styles for the season ahead are landing on the high street and online. With the AW ’17 men’s catwalks being awash with a variety of bold and brave trends, it can be confusing to determine exactly how to translate the styles for everyday wear.

Read on to discover the most wearable styles for the season ahead…

Camouflage

A trend that is often tricky to get right, the trick with camo is to avoid looking like you’re mimicking an army officer by going OTT. As a key print for the season, camouflage in traditional khaki and versatile whites and greys were seen on the Liam Hodges and Maharishi catwalks.

Try incorporating this trend through accessories and outerwear, such as a camouflage bomber jacket, backpack or beanie hat.

Acid Trip

This one is a back of a throw back to the ‘90s. Think a mid 1990’s rave, with glow sticks and ravers in bright and block colour. This trend gives a nod to the psychedelic designs of the period, but dressing from head to toe in this look might give out the wrong signals.

To translate this trend for everyday dressing, consider investing in a single colour block piece. Team a block print long sleeved T or jumper with a pair of grey straight leg jeans, or try a bright blocked pair of trainers with contrasting laces.

Craftsmanship

With fabrics reminiscent of Persian carpets, the craftsmanship trend is all about displaying quality, time and dedication through the garments. Think shearling, crochet, herringbone and rich wool.

A luxe leather jacket with careful hand stitching or a knitted scarf in a deep red or rich forest green tone gives a nod to this trend. If you’re not shy of using prints, try a crochet scarf or a printed patchwork jacket.

Oversized

The men’s coat and trousers were updated for the season, with these styles in particular becoming oversized. Coats were worn long, just shy of the ankle, and trousers were worn a couple of inches too long and wide, allowing the cuff to gather at the ankle.

To pull this look off try teaming long trousers with a fitted shirt to balance the oversized style.

This upcoming season is one to get excited about. With some standout trends that are easy to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe, AW ’17 is a season to look forward to when it comes to shopping and style.
